Indie-pop singer Lola Scott has recently released a bubbly new track for her upcoming EP ¼ Life Crisis that will resonate with the majority of 20 somethings. With unique layered-vocals and a fun-loving nature, Scott’s new single 4E Jobless borders anthem status for anyone getting that mid-twenties itch. Listen to this song with warning, you may or may not want to ditch your day job after listening to embrace your genuine passions.

Having began guitar and writing songs since the age of 8 to spending her school lunch breaks in the music rooms, the Sydney based musician has always been around music. Before beginning her solo project 2018, Lola studied a degree in music and began her career as a session musician, dedicated to honing her musical craft. Let’s just go ahead and say our girl bleeds music, it runs deep.

Lola is in the early stages of her career and is already showcasing immense depth and adaptability. She plucks juicy melodies and hook-laced tracks from her head to create a clear vision that displays incredible artistry.

We caught up with Scott to chat about music, local holiday spots and vegetables.

Here is all things Lola Scott:

Heya Lola! Umm you are killing it right now! For those who don’t know you so well can you tell us how you got into playing music?

I started playing guitar & songwriter when I was about 8. My school had a lunch time group guitar class & that’s where my obsession with guitar started. I then studied classical guitar & went on to do a bachelor in guitar & play as a session musician before I started my own project.

What a start to 2021, tell us all about your funky new track 4E Jobless.

I wrote this one when I quit my day job & would joke to my friends that I’d decided to retire early. I’d had a lot of conversations with fellow musicians about how their family or friends didn’t see music as a serious career and a risky choice. That’s why I wrote the lyrics ‘girl how’s the hobby going’.

Okay so I literally handed in my resignation this week for a lack of passion, is that something you’ve struggled with?

CONGRATS! I’ve never been very good at keeping day jobs. This is probably the first day job that I quit with notice instead of getting fired on purpose or walking out. I can’t imagine myself finding passion in a job that doesn’t challenge my creativity.

What’s your favourite bar or restaurant to go to for a killer bite to eat?

I recently found a new fav restaurant near my studio in Chippendale called Bibimbar. Another one of my favourites is Hello Auntie in Marrickville.

What was it like filming your music video, is that something you enjoyed bringing to life?

My best friend held the camera for this one while her ex boyfriend danced behind her & I copied his moves while I sang. It was an entertaining chill day. It has been fun shooting a lot of footage with mates on old cameras that I’ve been collecting over the past year.

Okay so we’re keeping it local, where would you love to holiday this year?

I would love to go on a road trip up to Dorrigo Falls or just go snooze on a beach somewhere.

Would you rather cry peas or instead of growing underarm hair, grow cherry tomatoes?

I think grow cherry tomatoes. At least it wouldn’t impair my vision lol.

What’s one thing you’d like to change about the world?

I wish people would all be kinder to each other & more understanding.

What’s coming up in 2021, can we expect any gigs, new releases or perhaps a viral Tik Tok moment?

I had some shows a few weekends ago & the rest of my first EP will be rolling out into April followed by an EP tour.
