Gold Coast locals and bandmates, Aimee Van der Kruik and Juliana Ebert, have recently formed new duo Love Level and are turning up the feels with their debut self-titled track. The song draws you in through its seductive tone and buttery energy. Their sound is a refreshing blend of indie-pop combined with an electro-chill sound that complements the vocals to perfection.

Fine Tune Magazine lives for friend duo’s! You get such a unique and genuine sound when you write music with someone you trust and have experienced life together. The two drew inspiration for this track from an intoxicated friends commentary on a night out, saying that he was on his way to being on “love level”. Are we sensing some fresh lingo? I can definitely think of a few times “love level” has been achieved on my end.

We caught up with our Gold Coast girls to chat about their debut track Love Level, the new music environment and whether sweet conquers savoury.

Check out all the feels below. Here’s a snippet of our conversation:

Heya Juliana and Aimee! Tell us a little bit about the two of you and how you came to create the music group ‘Love Level’

We met in school and were in a band together prior to Love Level and we just worked well together musically. When that band ended and we started the project, we were getting together and writing like 3 times a week with our close friend and then producer and it was kind of a mutual decision that we wanted to pursue this project seriously.

Can you tell us all about your debut self-titled single ‘Love Level’?

Love Level was the first song we wrote together as a band. It was different to anything we'd written in the past in other projects but we were so excited about pursuing a new sound. The idea for the song came to us on a night out when an intoxicated friend came up to us saying he was 'on his love level'. We took that to our next writing session and wrote about the euphoric feeling you get when you're surrounded by the people you love.

What’s it like debuting a track at a time like this?

Obviously it's a weird time to be releasing and promoting music when there's so much going on in the world. We personally think music is an escape, almost therapeutic - like when you're having a bad day and you put your favourite song on it just boosts your mood, you know?

What’s something that you love about each other?

Juli: I love Aimee's honesty - like when we're writing or doing a take she always pushes me to do my best.

Aimee: I also love that quality in Juli, that we're so comfortable around each other. When we're in the studio it just feels like a supportive environment.

Are there any festivals you’d love to play at, both locally and internationally?

Playing at festivals would be a dream!! Laneway was the first festival we both went to so that would definitely be at the top of the list for us.

Do you prefer sweet or savoury?

Aimee: savoury but also sweet

Juli: sweet but also savoury

Both: we like ALL foods :))

To be fair it is definitely dependent on the day, mood and time whether or not sweet or savoury is the choice, both have their pros and cons. Love Level is serving some serious debut energy that we are vibing with and we can’t wait for their follow up track.
